What we DO

Evangelism:

Being vehicles of the Holy Spirit, to sovereignly minister to the unsaved through the preaching of the Gospel of repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. In the past 3 years, over 130 people have come to faith in, and have been baptized into Christ Jesus. Please pray for this continued work of salvation to occur in the community of Panzaala.

Discipleship:

Teaching the word of God: line by line, verse by verse, Book by Book – for the building up, equipping of, and sending forth of the saints by the sovereign will and empowerment of the Holy Spirit to minister to the world around them.

We bring the relevance and authority of God’s word, as taught in the scriptures, to the culture and tribal practices of the people.
Both men and women are taught in their own Bible study groups what our Lord requires from our lives. Please pray for the continued
maturity of the believers in Christ in Panzaala, Uganda.

School:

By the grace of our Lord, Sonrise Missions has constructed a pre-school for the children of Panzaala. This school provides an early education opportunity for the local children that is focused and founded on the faith in Jesus Christ.

Both men and women are taught from this school to read, write, and speak English using the Bible to facilitate their education. Please pray for the continued use of education to facilitate the people of Panzaala loving the Lord with all their minds.

Agriculture:

Sonrise Missions assists the people of Panzaala in the planting and harvesting of agricultural crops for the benefit of the community. This summer we will be planting Sim-Sim crops to be harvested after the rainy season. We have also provided a grinding mill to facilitate the preparation of grains for the people of Panzaala and local communities.

We are also in the early stages of bee keeping for honey production; developing a fish estuary for fish forming, as well as husbandry for cattle, goats, pigs and chickens. Please pray about assisting us in these efforts to help the people of Panzaala.

Construction:

Through the generosity of brothers and sisters like you, and for the grace of our Lord, Sonrise Missions has constructed a community center in Panzaala that is used as both a school and a place of worship.

We are currently in the early stages of constructing new tukuls for the school teachers living quarters, as well as in the construction of our ministry complex along the Nile River. We are also beginning to prepare to expand the size of Sonrise school to accommodate the increased grade levels offered to the children of Panzaala.

Skills Training:

Sonrise head Director Chandi Raymond, is currently training 15 men from Panzaala to be proficient in all areas of construction. During the men’s training they are also being paid to work on ministry related projects, resolving in a learned staff for their livelihood, an income for their families, and at the end a certificate of completion of training that can then be used in ongoing employment.

Later this year, Sonrise Missions will be providing manual pedal sewing machines for the women of Panzaala to begin training in sewing and garment making.

These skills help give the people an ability to provide a living for themselves and their families, and to better their community. We ask you to pray for our Lord to be glorified in each and every skill the people of Panzaala learn. Please pray about assisting us in the continued training of these and other skills to the people of Panzaala.

Medical:

A major focus of Sonrise Missions has been in the area of disease prevention. We have approached this both through health education of personal hygiene and proper sanitation, as well as through providing mosquito netting.

We have conducted numerous medical outreaches that provide medication to treat malaria, yellow fever, dengue fever, typhoid, parasite infections, malnutrition, as well as other diseases. While much has been done in Panzaala to improve their health and decrease disease, so much more is needed. Please pray for the health of the people of Panzaala. As in most communities of this area, disease and early death is a very true reality everyday.

Water:

With our clean water initiative, we are assisting the people of Panzaala in a number of areas. Clean water enables healthier people and decreased disease. It enables for proper hygiene, agriculture, and healthier animals.

Sonrise Missions has just assisted in having the local borehole repaired, and later this year, Sonrise Missions will have a new borehole installed near our ministry complex. This will allow more clean water access for the people, and washing sections that will assist in their hygiene and health. Please pray about assisting us in this very important area of ministry.
